And don’t forget, the Flash Fiction Challenge is now a quarterly event. The next challenge opens on December 1st with an entertaining new theme. Be sure to check it out.

Coming Soon: Women of the Apocalypse

Posted by Absolute XPress on September 21, 2009 with Comments Comments

AXP is proud to announce that we have a new title coming soon called “Women of the Apocalypse”.

This collaborative novella collection is about four women who are mistakenly chosen to be the champions against the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Written by Eileen Bell, Billie Milholland, Roxanne Felix and Ryan McFadden, this book is due out on October 31st and you can expect a book launch at the World Fantasy Conference in San Jose (more details to follow).

More information about the book can be found on the book page here on the AXP website, the official Women of the Apocalypse website, or in the description below.

Four women. Four shooters. Four destinies to save the world…

The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse are coming. So, four Archangels find the perfect champions to save the world. Fighters, warriors, soldiers, brave men all, ready to fight for humanity against end times. All they have to do is drink a shooter — a caustic mix of alcohol and divinity that will imbue them with the conviction to battle the Four.

The only problem is, these warriors don’t drink the shooters. Call it fate, chance, or what you will, but four women drink the divine concoction. Alexandra Carlton, Julia Wolfe, Emily Keller and Dinah Medrano must all take up the mantles of champion…. Whether they want to or not.

Four writers, four heroines, four Riders of the Apocalypse. The world will never be the same again.

Under New Management

Posted by Absolute XPress on September 1, 2009 with Comments Comments

We have a new look!

Absolute Xpress has had a very interesting month of August. Not only have we changed our website but we’ve had a change in management as well.

The management change has allowed Absolute Xpress to align more closely with its sister imprint Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing. This also means a change in our publishing policies, with more of a focus on Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, and on publishing longer works of fiction (novellas and novels). However, the Flash Fiction Challenge (our flash fiction anthology contest) will still take place.

To clarify, this means that Absolute Xpress no longer accepts manuscripts in the genres of Romance, Erotica, Mystery or Self Help.

We here at Absolute Xpress think all these changes are great. It will allow us to focus on fewer genres and thus have more time to nurture new and upcoming authors while still providing great service to our established authors.

We hope that you will join us in welcoming in a new era for Absolute Xpress.

Today we release “Dark Matters” written by Regina Glei. It’s our first Science Fiction book that isn’t part of the Okal Rel Universe.

Let’s welcome Regina to the growing AXP family.

Dark Matters From the back of the book:

Each day, the Captain of the Luminous sinks deeper into madness.

A solar flare severely damaged his ship and for the past eleven years he has been struggling to return to Earth, alone.

Half-way home he intercepts a distress call coming from an uncharted planet — four humans have become stranded and need to be rescued from a ghastly cold world.

There is only one problem…

Each night a strange “dark matter” beleaguers the planet and afflicts the Captain’s dreams. The substance forces the Captain to resurrect the painful memories of the accident that has rendered him partially insane. Will it add to his insanity or him him to rescue the stranded humans and get home…?
