We are currently seeking high-quality novel-length and novellas of: science fiction, fantasy, horror, dark/gruesome fantasy, romance, erotica, mystery.
Manuscripts should be written in good taste and be aimed at an older (aged 20 and up), well-read, mature audience. We prefer novels of between 75,000 and 120,000 words, and novellas of between 10,000 and 60,000, although we occasionally accept longer or shorter works. We work with new and established authors.
We particularly like stories with:
depth and insight
great writing
original ideas
interesting characters who have believable behaviors, motives, and relationships
believable dialogue
strong plots
solid science or magic systems
unique settings
well designed, innovative alien life forms and environments, and
richly detailed and original cultures.
Please be sure that you send us the best version of your work. Before you submit your work (see requirements below), your novel must be complete (not a work-in-progress) and have already undergone extensive editing and revisions.
Authors who are unsure if their novel meets our requirements should send only a query or their cover letter letter indicating their doubt and a synopsis in the email form found on this page.
We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

1. Required Extras
An email address for correspondence.
2. Query/Cover Letter
This letter should introduce you to us, interest us in considering your manuscript, and provide us with a small amount of your writing history.
Be sure to mention your book's title, its exact word count, and the genre.
Include a short 100-200 word synopsis about your book/work; any longer and the email will be deleted without consideration.
Include your name and a valid email address.
3. Synopsis(single-spaced, one page only)
Use whatever technique (point form, chapter by chapter, etc) is comfortable for you to convey the entire arc of the story.
Do not leave out important details to "build suspense". The editor must know everything about your story!
All text should be single-spaced unless otherwise noted.
Begin each section on a new page.
Note that 'sp' (in instructions above) stands for single-spaced.

If you fail to follow the submissions guidelines, your submission could be discarded.
Absolute XPress reserves the right to print off one copy of your submission for purposes of reading and evaluating.
How to format your Submission for Absolute XPress:
Your real name, and contact information should appear in the top left corner of your title page.
Half way down the page, your Title, and author name.
Margins on all sides should be 1 inch, .5 inch indent first line of each paragraph.
Single-spaced.
No headers or footers.
Italics, bold, underline ONLY.
Save your document in .RTF (Rich Text File) format.
No page breaks.
Fonts: Arial 10pt., Verdana 10pt., Times Roman 11pt., or Gerogia 11pt.
If none of these are available, most programs have Courier as the default font, and thats fine, as well 11pt., preferably.

Please submit your cover letter via the form below. It is your responsibility to submit a query about your submission if you have not heard a reply within 3 months.
If we like your story/concept, we will send you an email with directions on how to send your manuscript. You will be assigned a ticket number for ease of response. For all future queries about the same manuscript, please login to your account and send your query via the same ticket number located in your account area.
Absolute XPress Heat Rating (Romance Submissions Only)
When submitting a Romance novel, please state the Heat Rating using the following guidelines:
One Degree = Sensual, all stories involve exclusive couples. May include light bondage and toy play.
Two Degrees = HOT and exclusive couples. May contain adult language, moderate violence, and mild BDSM.
Three Degrees = May include harsh language, extreme BDSM, group sex/partner switching, and moderate violence.
Four Degrees = May include any or all of the preceding. Caution is advised. HEA not required.
Five Degrees = May include graphic violence, offensive language, and/or exotic sexual practices.
Diablo Delights = No holds barred. Proceed with Caution. Contains strong content.
Sweet Confections = Traditional sensual romance
