When AXP re-focused its publishing platform last fall, we worried that we might not attract as many submissions as we would like. So, since our Flash Fiction Challenge was doing well, we came up with a plan to publish four Challenges’ per year.
In retrospect, it seems we only needed to let people know we were here and the submissions started flooding in; quality novels and novellas from both new and established writers. We are thrilled to know that you want us to produce your books.
Because of this outpouring of submissions, we’ve figured out a way to produce eight new books this year. Of course with expansion some things have to change.
In the end, we have decided to reduce the Flash Fiction Challenge from four times a year to three. It’s a decision we are making it for all the right reasons and we are happy to do it.
The new schedule isn’t too different from our original one, all we really did was add an extra month to the publication time lines, but it makes a world of difference to our overall schedule and gives us more time to produce a higher quality anthology.

The authors and stories that have been selected for publication in “Thieves and Scoundrels: Flash Fiction Challenge #3″ will be announced later this week. The anthology itself will be published on March 31 as per our new schedule.
With five cool novels and three Flash Fiction Challenges scheduled this year we can only see good things for 2010.
